Uptime Kuma¶
Uptime Kuma is a self-hosted uptime-monitoring tool — a "is my site up?" dashboard with alerting. Created by Louis Lam, it's one of the most beginner-friendly self-hosted apps: single container, instant payoff, no database to manage.
Why it matters¶
Once you run your own services, you want to know when one goes down. Uptime Kuma pings your sites/containers and alerts you (Telegram, Discord, email, 90+ notification channels) — the kind of thing you'd otherwise rent from Pingdom or UptimeRobot.
Key facts¶
- Monitors HTTP(S), TCP, ping, DNS, and more; configurable intervals.
- Clean status-page UI + public status pages you can share.
- 90+ notification integrations (Telegram, Discord, Slack, email, webhooks…).
- Single lightweight container via docker-compose; SQLite-backed, no separate DB.
- Flagged a ✅ good first pick in self-hosting-cost-savings — tiny and satisfying.
What it replaces¶
Pingdom / UptimeRobot paid tiers (~$15/mo). Free once self-hosted.
